And so long to ever after

"The great advantage of living in a large family is that early lesson of life's essential unfairness."  ~Nancy Mitford

Congrats to the best big brother there is!

I'm a snowfall kind of girl

I woke up to a text this morning from my dear friend Mady that read:

"I just got asked to senior ball by two guys in one night! I said to myself, this only happens in movies.... and lauren faber's life."

Needless to say I laughed my way through the rest of the day.

I would always push you on the swing

It's kind of crazy to think of who I was as a freshman. It's kind of crazy to think of who everyone was.

The people I knew, or didn't know and the things that happened that I can't ever take back.

There are people who changed my life, who were my life that I barely even say hello to now.

I'm not upset or dwelling, just thinking.

I graduate in 47 days. FOURTY-SEVEN days and I'm done with high school.

So for those of you who don't want a probably pretty sappy recap of my high school please, exit the site now. But I've been thinking about high school too much so I have to talk about it.

Freshman year was a treat. I'll remember classes with Miss Jonas, where, when asked to draw an iceberg I drew the restaurant.
I'll always remember late night chats with Christian and talking about things like pokemon. My freshman year I had P.E. with megan francis and we would talk in teen girl squad voices and run with Bayley every day. I had biology with Wendy and she got there late the one day that mattered, when we got to choose our seats. I stayed at school almost every day for lunch. I was on JV ballroom and became friends with all of them. I hung out with Marco, and Wayne, and Kevin and I met Ryan and Alan that year. I'd spend weekends at Nicole Evenson's house with Melissa and Jensen. I hated Tana (well, I was jealous of her) because of Marco of all people, ha. I took ASL with Mayson and survived my only A- and a crazy teacher who took her class to days to get doughnuts when she felt like it. I liked Alex Burdge and he gave me a build-a-bear for my birthday named Charlie. We all had a birthday party sleepover for Wendy and watched LOST the entire night. I hated high school so much at first that me and Lydia has to sit on my bed and name off 20 things each that we liked about it in attempts to have a better attitude about all of it. I played soccer with Megan and Kelsey and Allie and Kirsti and Anne and we were all good friends. I got my phone stolen twice. I was loud and obnoxious and very outgoing. I didn't have a single class in the upper academics and never ventured that way.

Sophomore year seems almost like a haze. I was friends with Joe and Christian and Malcolm and Jonny and every weekend was just a big get together somewhere. I met Jake Knell and became friends through strange circumstances. I went to Africa that year. I had my first kiss that year. I made Varsity Ballroom and became best friends with Jessica Atkinson. I somehow managed to work my way onto both medleys teams, though it was a tough one. I started latin with tanner. I went to Friday Night Lights with Sean Hagedorn. I quit soccer. I met Marissa, one of my biggest role models of ever. I actually went to the same school as my sister and we would listen to Jonas Brothers on the way to school every day. Alan got his license that year so we finally had places we could go. I went to Disneyland twice that year. I watched Avatar until 1 in the morning at Ryan's house with Tana, Alan and David. My friends all started turning 16. Emily and I hung out with Sarah Thayne for the first time while everyone old enough went to Morp. I kissed a foreign exchange student. We wrote the Diary of Henry Lee. I became best friends with Tana and Shay and we all hung out all the time. We went up to Park City for Shay's birthday. The last night of the school year Jonny was the best friend he should have been and took care of me. Me and Macall took 5 hour energy and acted like lions.

Junior year I started off single and in anticipation. I turned 16. I went on my 1st date and to 2 homecomings. I met Stookey one day because his car door needed fixing. I took my favorite classes of all time, Pre-Calc and Ap English. I was slapped by, and then dated Henry Lee. I met Andy who became one of my best friends. I got to know Romo and Cullen and the Lee family, who I adore so much. I'd walk out of English and look at the Atrium almost every day and then Henry would come and find me and we would talk and watch.I ran Cross-country. I went to Harry Potter Land. I got in a screaming fight in the commons one day with another girl. I started off that year dancing at BYU youth but came back to Timpview. I did acting up. I went to Movies with Maren and had sleepovers. I met Zach and he wrote a song for me. I went on A cappella tour and sat on Henry Davis's head to see world of colors better. I roomed with Kassidy, Allie, Kirsti, and Amanda. I filmed a commercial. I went to Prom. I met BJ and sat by him Eric and Andy everyday in AP world history. Henry left to Africa. I got my first New Years kiss. I went on Ballroom tour. My senior friends graduated. I watched my first pg-13 movie.

My seniors year I did journalism, yearbook, student gov, a cappella, danced on BYU A team, and tried early morning seminary. I danced a lot. I met great people on my team. I went wedding crashing with Henry Davis and Macall. I met BJ's family. I took AP Psych. I hung out with Paige and Sarah almost every day in the summer. I went to a Lehi Football game dressed as the biggest Lehi fan you've ever seen and cheered like crazy, cause my friends and I felt like it. I started talking to Bobby for the first time this year. I got my wisdom teeth out. I fixed my GPA. I got into BYU. My teams won the national title in Division I both styles of dancing at Nationals. I got a job at Kneaders. I planned Senior Ball. I was in Homecoming Royalty. I realized my best friend is my sister, Shelly. My brother got home from his mission, engaged, and married all in the same school year. I was in the school play. I met Brenna, who helped me more than she will ever know. I went to Mountain View and pretended to be a new student for a day, just for kicks. My best friends: Emily went to hair school school, Macall got a job at Jamestown, Lydia found her boy, Mayson ruled the school, and we all still get to hang out together.

It's crazy how different every year has been. It's been good, it's been great actually. But please.... bring on college.

ps I realize all my grammatical errors. Im too lazy to fix them.

you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed

Today I got my wisdom teeth out. For months i cried and cried and couldn't stand the thought, still can't. It was easy and I'm not even loopy. I did have the best anesthesiologist in the state though, my daddy. And now I sit in slobbered pain.

He'd spit into that gross metal bowl but he never complained about pain, not once.
He wasn't the type to take medicine, in fact he refused.
But I sat and laid and waited with him, but ended up being held all day when he was supposed to be the one who needed the help.
Jungle book, Tarzan, Finding Nemo. Movies all day.
From ten a.m. until midnight.

It was snowing that day, which makes sense because it was December.
I was young, I didn't know what to do with my love.
He had a shirt drenched in tears and I had a silly platypus on mine.
We brought a peanut butter Jamba, how anyone can like that is beyond me.

I slept a little bit, he slept a lot.
I loved lose moments I felt important, like I was taking care of him.

Those little moment days where we wonder 'what if?' could have been my biggest that day.
Hour after hour I sat in thoughtful silence while the TV played the current calm disney movie.
I wouldn't have rather been anywhere else. Still wouldn't.
What does it take to make you want to sit, talking to no one, while you can't even think, more than doing anything else in the world?
Like I said, I didn't know what to do with it.

I was just little.
