We tied what we needed to leave behind on a string.
We cried as we thought of them one last time.
We watched as what we let go of literally flew away never to be revisited.
One time I graduated High School.
I read some names off, cause i'm VP and that's our coolest job of the year.
I wore super high heels that I normally wouldn't.
I took pictures with my favorite people.
This post is mostly for you G-ma. Love you! Thanks for coming to dinner to support me!
This could be very very close to number one. I don't think that anyone understands the love that i have for ballroom dancing. I worked my butt off this year to get to be even remotely a good dancer. I don't have the natural body to move, but I love it so much I work hard to get the technique right.
There is no feeling like the one at nationals. My team worked so hard this year and I was honestly OBSESSED with dancing. I would watch videos for hours every night. I would be in class thinking about dance and how to get better, how to help my team more. It's all I thought about, all that consumed me. It was the highlight of my entire high school career.
So this is an ode to ballroom in general, and mostly nationals.
Sophomore year, nationals.
My amazing team:
It's a weird angle because in dance you concentrate on the angle towards the judges. But it was pretty much perfect, promise :) and if you're wondering Im the one on the very very left side at the beginning.
i don't even know which dance this is, just picked a video
1st ever time IN MY LIFE placing in a latin final.
Provo High Comp, 3rd place! movin up in the world
We did it! We won.
Our team, winning 1st.
On the floor
Novemeber comp, 6th.
Our semi-final standard.
From the dancer I was at the beginning of the year I don't think anyone expected me to place in both pre-champ finals that I danced in.
I honestly don't think anyone understands how much I love to dance.
I was lucky enough to go to prom with my dream date, my wonderful boyfriend at the time.
It was all I could ever asked for it to be.
I'll never forget getting in the car and screaming to let out the anxiety we both had. It felt so good.
Or sitting on the couch while everyone and their dates didn't even seem to be talking to each other.
Winning the amazing race.
Dancing at Prom.
Swimming after.
Playing at the toy store.
It was the perfect night. It was exactly the dream Prom you would wish for in high school.
It will always be one of my best memories.
If I were to have one major experience that changed my life I would say it would be Africa.
There is no other way to experience or get the feelings people talk about from going to these places other than actually going to these places.
We have everything, and that's our problem. We don't know how to find happiness in each other, and in loving and supporting each other. Americans are all so insecure and worried about what others think. The Africans are love. They emulate it, they shine with it. They have so much more than we do. They shine so bright.
This was the coolest experience in high school and I will always cherish it. Africa is amazing.
I did not have a trip more fun or crazy of wonderful. It was all I could ask for. But Im too lazy to look through my pictures right now. come back later.
Well, it's fairly simple. My sophomore year I got to go up to temple square with Chance, Emily, Dane, Elna, Kay, German, and Alan.
It was cold, but not too cold. We looked at all the pretty lights and roamed around for a bit.
Alan was being so difficult and wouldn't take a good picture by the nativity scene.
We all gazed at the Temple for so long, I could have stayed there until the frost bite kicked in.
It was quiet and it was calm, it was lovely and it was magical.
So this one time I loved concerts. Acapella, Acting Up!, Ballroom you name it. Actually if you try... you will only be able to name those three. But anyway. Back stage was always so fun. It was a time for bonding and getting closer to people. Certain circumstances it seemed I would find myself in that I wouldn't be able to any other way. I won't ever forget all the concerts that I got to attend in high school and all the memories that came with them.
I will always be so thankful for the opportunities I always had to perform.
Misha and Me, BYU team.
Sophomore year Christmas concert
Backstage was always the best
Cool friends who make signs for me when Im in plays
Ah number 8. I would have to say that is all the crazy stuff I've done.
You know like dressing up in another school's colors and acting like the biggest fans ever when everybody is thinking "who the heck are these people?"
Or going to Mountain View for a day with Eric Sheffield and pretending that we just moved here from California just to see what it's like to be a new student.
Ya know stuff like that.
And Eric never got the picture of us outside of Mountain View on Facebook so I am forced to use this picture of when I straightened his hair.
So this was supposed to be a wrap up of all my good birthdays until I remember I basically din't have too many great ones. My favorites were Sophomore and Senior year. For my birthday party we went to the space center and it ROCKED. I can't even express how much I love that place. It would be one of my highlights for sure. Well, it is, so that was probably a pretty dumb statement.
Anyways, we killed some aliens, got to act like 5th graders for a day and looked good doing it. Oh and I was blonde when it happened so that could be pretty cool I guess.
Mayson Claire Astle. Your idea was so cute I HAD to steal it. Duh.
10 days left until graduation. Top ten count down of favorite high school memories.
AP English. I'm not sure if this is allowed to count as one memory, but it's my blog, so it is. I love this class will all of my heart. I had days where I would sit on the floor reading scriptures and Tim Davis would ask me what was wrong, and days where I would draw pictures of the Miriam Love triangle and show then to Henry Davis and Reese. I had days where I sat outside in the hallway and Henry Lee would always come and find me as we looked at the atrium and talked so much more profoundly than high schoolers often do. There were days I learned what a satire was, and days Lydia and I would make the strangest faces and noises across the room at each other.
Sometimes I would sit in the back with BJ and we would just talk about all the stuff going on in our lives. I'd even take naps occasionally. I learned to love reading and writing even in books like The Grapes of Wrath. I'd talk to Jae about strange things, but I always liked our conversations. I would listen as the "smart" kids would debate topics just because they knew they could. I'd talk to Allie, Catie, and Kirsti about their love lives and what was going on with them. We brought coloring books. I helped Miriam answer to prom in that class and also witnessed John asking her.
I was taught by the most incredible woman and teacher in the world, Mrs Van Orden. I felt accomplished coming out of each class and enlightened. It was unlike any other class I've ever taken.
It's number 10 for sure. That class is one of my greatest memories, I will never forget.
It's an interesting thing to me when people don't like others for being different from them.
"I don't like pizza."
*gaps* "We can't be friends anymore."
While of course, they don't actually mean it, I'm serious about the whole different thing.
Some people like different music, or they don't like watching sports that other people do. It just seems to be a strange concept to not like someone because they don't agree with your opinion. Isn't is a beautiful thing that we aren't all the same?
Perhaps, someday, we will love each others quirks that set us apart, instead of feeling threatened by the variety.
Not everyone can be a peanut butter lovin, sports watching, mexican food eatin', smart, too-cool-for-school, loves superhero movies, laughs at everything kind of person.
Is it just me or does the world suddenly slow down and speed up all at once when you start a test?
I personally like to look gross for tests. I wear sweats, and my hair up and basically no makeup. It's how I roll and usually I roll pretty decently.
Then all the sudden I'm completely aware of every sound and no matter how I put "definitely" down on paper it never looks like it's spelt correctly.
Oh, and that moment where a question has to be read about a bijillion times because every time I read it something else it going on in my head and I just can't FIGURE OUT WHAT IT'S ASKING.
Besides all that, there is always the studying. The whole "learn and memorize all of these millions of things but not have any of it show up on the test, and instead be replaced by terms that you never learned!" thing.
But in with all that jazz, I'm a weirdie who loves taking tests.
This may be in part of me chatting with my baby girl, Tana. It may be in part of the fact much has gone down in the last week. Or maybe it's because I did literally 5 hours of dished today. BUT whatever the reason.... yes, I am blogging once again.
I killed josh Burr. Hid in a bush for 2 1/2 hours to do it. But it was so worth it. Squirted him with water real good. Then I got betrayed by my best friends and died. Sad day.
I can't believe that I'm graduation high school so soon. There is so much the senior class presidency still has to do! My golly I can't even believe it.
I basically got demoted to dishwasher today. I cleaned those dang things for 5 hours. and I cut my thumb :(
People are crazy. And confusing. It's no fun.
I almost ate a spider today. Kind of.
I really have not too much to say........ only..... Shelly and I can laugh at a waffle crisp cereal box for a half hour. For real.
